Welcome to the website for AVAG (Ashley Vale Action Group) and Wildgoose Space (our community space and work units). This is a joint site that will inform you of AVAG's past self build activities at The Yard, our current activities and direction and will keep you updated about all events and developments in our busy community facility, Wildgoose Space. AVAG is a not for profit community action group that was formed in 2000 by residents of the Ashley Vale area of Bristol who were concerned about the redevelopment of a former scaffolding yard in the area. A core group of residents formed a non-profit making company to purchase and re-develop the site for the benefit of the community.
10 years later, over 41 homes have been self built or self finished and a community of over one hundred residents is thriving, with a large, busy community space for hire and 3 work units supporting local, small enterprises.
